The word ‘Thomas’ comes from the Aramaic word “Teoma”, meaning “twins”.
About
Doubting Thomas, as he was commonly known, was one of Jesus’s Twelve Disciples tasked with the journey to spread the newborn faith. A Galilee native, and fisherman by trade, St. Thomas gave his life to bringing devotion to one of the most spiritual places on Earth, India. Now, centuries later, no story is more mystical than the Apostle’s journey East and how his Mission would shape the world.
“Since the beginning of the third century it has become an almost indisputable tradition that Thomas ministered in India.”
The Apostle of The East is a documentary made for educational purposes, and aims to enlighten people of all fates by revisiting Saint Thomas’s journey across the East. This film hopes to dispel the controversies regarding Thomas’s voyage and establish his rightful place in history, as a man devoted to his purpose.
Despite certain historical inconsistencies, Christians and Christian historians agree that it was Apostle Thomas who brought Jesus Christ to India between 52AD and 72AD, and believed to have been martyred in Mylapore while spreading His message. Our primary goal is to educate, and tell the Apostle’s forgotten story, and remind the world of his voyage that brought the Lord’s message.
Stylistically, the film will center around Saint Thomas’s life after the death of Christ, as he travels from the Roman Empire to Kerala State, India. The film hopes to recount the spiritual history and beautiful scenery that lies in its wake.
